A.W. Lymn Celebrates Next Generation Success With Two Newly Qualified Embalmers
Weare proud to announce that two of our embalmers have passed the British Institute of Embalming (BIE) examinations – a three-year long, nationally recognised qualification, taking our total of fully qualified Embalmers to ten.
Olivia Cotterill Wilson MBIE, Senior Embalmer, and Isabel Walton MBIE, Embalmer, have worked with us for a combination of 11 years, in our Nottingham branch, serving their local community, helping families, and working hard towards passing their British Institute of Embalming (BIE) examinations.
For three years, Olivia and Isabel have been attending classes in Telford, Shropshire, studying for five theory exam papers, one none-autopsy and one autopsy practical exam. The studying has been completed on a part-time basis, while the pair have been working in their full-time roles in Embalming.
The final practical examination was held at our Robin Hood House, on Saturday 8 April, where both Olivia and Isabel successfully passed with flying colours.
Olivia explained: “We were both thrilled when we passed our theory exams, they were very challenging. When we plucked up the courage to take our practical, and then passed, we were over the moon. It was such a relief that after four years, we passed it.
“Being a part of the BIE means a lot to us. It’s a highly respected organisation that recognises the need for the job that we do. As an Embalmer, we think it’s very important to be a part of this group.”
We are incredibly proud to see the young duo celebrate their impressive achievements at the BIE Annual Conference in Harrogate on Saturday 22 April and receive their certificates and celebrate their achievements.
We pride ourselves on encouraging team members to work towards the next step in their career, taking a proactive approach in offering time, funding and support to those looking to become qualified by nationally recognised associations.
Jackie Lymn Rose, Company Director, said: “We’re incredibly proud of both Olivia and Izzy, who are such a huge credit to our next generation of Embalmers. They have worked tirelessly to gain their qualifications, and we now have a team of ten qualified Embalmers including a fellows and Past President of BIE, and one registered student of the BIE currently completing the theory module. We pride ourselves on continually investing in our team, supporting passions, and creating an inclusive environment for everyone to grow within.
“It is important that companies in the funeral industry look to inspire young people, particularly females, to enter these jobs. By highlighting their importance, value to the community, and how interesting these roles are, Olivia and Izzy have proved the importance of working hard to upskill, and progress even further in their careers at such a young age.”
